MetroCast Business Services has installed and activated a high-capacity fiber circuit at the Pocono Raceway in Long Pond that delivers data transport speeds up to 1 Gigabit per second.
MetroCast was chosen to implement the fiber solution by APXnet, a Maine-based communications company that provides at-track network support for major racing events nationwide.
The 1 Gig circuit is a high-capacity, fiber optic solution that provides dedicated Internet access with speeds that are significantly faster than other technologies available in the market, including DSL and T-1 lines. The circuit also delivers symmetrical speeds, which provides uniform speeds whether data is being transmitted downstream or upstream.
In addition to supporting data needs at the facility, the fiber circuit will provide wireless Internet access for ticketholders at the raceway.

MetroCast customers will have access to all 67 games of the 2015 NCAA® Division 1 Men’s Basketball Championship. “March Madness” commences on March 15 with the tournament selection show. Games begin on March 17.
The games will air live on TBS, TNT, truTV and CBS. MetroCast customers that subscribe to TBS, TNT, and truTV can access the games on TV or on computer or mobile devices by registering at ncaa.com/march-madness-live with their login credentials. No registration is required for games being televised by CBS.

MetroCast Communications, the video, Internet and phone provider serving customers in New Hampshire, Maine, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and South Carolina, has announced a significant speed enhancement for its residential, broadband high speed data (HSD) customers, boosting its top downstream speed from 50 Mbps to up to 75 Mbps.
MetroCast has increased its top Internet speed five times in the last six years, and tripled it in the last three years. The 75 Mbps MetroCast offering is almost 7x faster than the national average* for downstream speeds.
“MetroCast customers now have access to the fastest Internet speeds available in our service areas,” said Josh Barstow, MetroCast’s Vice President for Advanced Services. “These speeds will allow customers to stream high definition video content on multiple devices and to enjoy other demanding consumer applications that require top broadband speeds for best performance.”

MetroCast Communications, the video, Internet and phone provider located in Waterford Connecticut, has launched WiFi hotspots in New London, Plainfield and Killingly, CT. The hotspots will provide free, wireless web access to MetroCast residential customers already subscribing to MetroCast High Speed Internet or High Speed Ultra.MetroCast customers with wireless-enabled devices may access the WiFi signals from their smart phones, tablets, laptops and other wireless devices by selecting “CableWiFi” and logging- in with their MetroCast account credentials.One WiFi hotspot is located in New London at Toby May Park on Ocean Avenue. The second location is in Lions Park in downtown Plainfield. Nearby outdoor locations will have access to the WiFi signal. The third location is in the playground and parking lot areas of Owen Bell Park in Killingly.
MetroCast, which provides video, Internet and phone service to residents and businesses, also provides hotspots in its Maryland, Virginia, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania Markets. The hotspot deployment is the outside complement to MetroCast’s Wireless Home Networking option, which provides in-home WiFi service for MetroCast High Speed Internet customers on up to three computers and multiple wireless devices via a DOCSIS 3.0 modem with a built-in 802.11n wireless router. MetroCast has also announced that it will soon boost its residential High Speed Internet speeds up to 75 Mbps downstream.
MetroCast has been recognized by the Virginia Cable & Telecommunications Association with its annual Technology Award.
In making its announcement, VCTA praised MetroCast for "its outstanding contributions" to the VCTA and to the cable industry. The VCTA also took note of MetroCast's efforts to upgrade the infrastructure that serves Virginia customers. "[MetroCast] has spent millions of dollars rebuilding and expanding its service in rural Virginia. This company has also built more than 150 miles of Fiber Transport Backbone to interconnect these systems [and] now offers a full array of Advanced Services in these rural communities," the VCTA said.
The award was given at the annual meeting of the VCTA on November 11, 2014.
MetroCast customers who subscribe to SHOWTIME can now access their favorite SHOWTIME programming anywhere. Today, MetroCast Communications announced the launch of SHOWTIME ANYTIME, Showtime Networks' authentication service. SHOWTIME ANYTIME, available free with a SHOWTIME subscription, gives the network's subscribers unlimited on demand access to hundreds of hours of SHOWTIME programming on their computer, tablet, mobile device, Xbox 360 game console, or Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV streaming devices anywhere in the U.S. SHOWTIME ANYTIME also includes the live broadcast of both the East and West Coast feeds of SHOWTIME.
