Dear Valued Customer:
As the new regional manager for MetroCast Communications of Connecticut, I am grateful for the opportunity to live and work in this community and for the many expressions of welcome I have received since arriving here last fall. I have enjoyed meeting many of you at our local community events and customer service centers, and have had many conversations by phone and email. In these conversations, you've offered suggestions and feedback that have been most helpful to me as I have worked with our MetroCast team to launch exciting new products and services this year over our state-of-the-art, fiber-rich, digital broadband network.
You may already have noticed some of these changes. Last fall, we greatly expanded our MetroCast On Demand library to over 4,000 hours of programming each month, with choices for every member of the family. With MetroCast On Demand, you don't have to leave the comfort of home to enjoy great movies and programs-instantly-with many titles at no charge, and others released the same day as DVD.
I also am pleased to announce the addition of fourteen (14) high-definition channels to our lineup beginning on April 1, including AMC-HD, A&E-HD, ABC Family-HD, Bravo-HD, Fox News-HD, CNN-HD, FX-HD, History-HD, Lifetime-HD, Lifetime Movies-HD, SyFy-HD, Travel-HD, USA-HD and Oxygen-HD.
In addition, National Geographic-HD has already joined our Expanded Basic lineup and more HD programming has been added to our On Demand library. With MetroCast HD, you'll get up to 1,080 lines of resolution in contrast to the 480 lines of detail on a standard definition channel. This allows far greater clarity, particularly on larger size screens, as well as enhanced audio capabilities with Dolby 5.1 digital surround sound, both of which have become increasingly important to our customers' in-home viewing experience.
MetroCast also will expand its Digital Basic lineup with Fox Business Network, History International, Biography, and Chiller, a new 24-hour network from NBC-Universal devoted exclusively to the horror/thriller genre, with exciting documentary and reality programs, popular anthology series, and feature-length premieres from major film studios.
As channel lineups expand and our customers have more and more viewing options, the ability to navigate and manage your TV schedule and your digital video recordings becomes even more important. That's why we are upgrading our Interactive Guide this month with improved search features, HD prompts, and enhanced DVR features.
In addition, we continue to pursue technological upgrades to our leading edge, digital broadband platform so that our High-Speed Internet service will be even faster, with new 10 Mbps and 18 Mbps downstream options coming soon that will meet your most demanding streaming, gaming and downloading needs. In addition, we now offer in-home Wi-Fi Service so you can enjoy wireless internet service on your desktop computer, laptops and up to five mobile devices, including smart phones, tablets and gaming systems.
With these new enhancements, our Video-Internet-Phone bundle (VIP) is an even greater value than ever before. With VIP you get hundreds of video channels, dozens of digital music channels, access to thousands of hours of On Demand content, High-Speed Internet and crystal clear Digital Phone with unlimited calling in the U.S. and Canada, all for one low price, on one statement, from one local company. And, when you bundle the video, internet and phone services together, you get hundreds of dollars of savings each year off the a la carte rates. Unlike other providers that may offer discounts during limited-time promotional periods, then surprise you with a spike in your bill when normal pricing begins, the savings you receive with MetroCast VIP are year-round. There are no gimmicks, no hidden fees, no contracts, and no cancellation fees. Also, our VIP prices are not increasing this year so you can lock-in your rate until 2012, and your satisfaction is guaranteed.
