Windows Live Mail Setup



  1. Open Windows Live Mail.
  2. You will be prompted to create an email account:
    1. In the E-Mail Address Field, enter your MetroCast email address (for example; user@[state].metrocast.net)
    2. Set Password to your old Mediacom email password.
    3. Set Display Name to the name you want to appear in email sent from this account. Click Next when done.
  3. Enter your Account Settings as described below:
    1. My incoming mail server is a POP server
    2. Incoming server: pop.[state].metrocast.net
    3. Port: 110
    4. This server requires a secure connection (SSL) should be unchecked
    5. Log on using: Clear Text Authentication.
    6. Login ID is your MetroCast email address (example; user@[state].metrocast.net)
    7. Outgoing Server: smtp.state.metrocast.net
    8. Port: 25
    9. This Server Requires a Secure Connection (SSL) should be unchecked
    10. My Outgoing Server Requires Authentication should be unchecked.
    11. Click Next when done
  4. You should now get a success message. Please continue by clicking on Finish
  5. You will now get a message that your folders are downloading. When that download is complete, please continue.
  6. Please verify that your folders are correct, then click OK
  7. You should now be able to send and receive emails
