Email Quotas



As expressed in the online documentation, email quotas will be enforced here at MetroCast. What does that mean to you, the customer? Email and your Personal Web Space do not share the same folder on the servers and have the following limits:

- 80 MB for Web Space
- 250 MB for email

If the quota for your account comes within and reaches its limit, an email will be sent to you informing you that the mail servers will not accept new mail until the space is freed up on the server. Recent audits have shown that some customers are saving up to tens of thousands of emails on the servers taking up hundreds of MegaBytes.

To prevent mail quotas to grow to these sizes, please follow the instructions below for your email program. If your email program is not listed, you can use the Help section of the program, or call MetroCast Technical Support at 1-800-608-6480. If you require additional disk space, please contact Technical Support at 1-800-608-6480, and additional space may be provided to you at an additional monthly cost.

Outlook Express/Outlook 97/2000

With the program open, go to Tools, then Accounts, now click on the Mail Tab. Now select the email account and click Properties. Now click the Advanced Tab and near the bottom, uncheck the "Leave a copy on Server" box. Now, hit Apply, then OK to finish the changes. The old mail will no longer be saved on the server.

Outlook 2002/2003

With the program open, click Tools, then E-mail Accounts, select View or Change Existing email accounts, then Next. Now select the account (if more than one) and click Change. Now click the More Settings button, now the Advanced Tab, uncheck the "Leave a copy on Server" box. Now to save the changes, click on Apply, then OK to finish the changes. The old mail will no longer be saved on the server.

Thunderbird

With the program open, click Tools, then Account Settings. Now under the left hand side, beneath the email address, click Server Settings,now on the server settings box to the right, uncheck leave messages on servers, now click OK to close.

Incredimail XE

With the program open, go to Tools, then Accounts. Now select the email account and click Properties. Now click the Advanced Tab and near the bottom, uncheck the "Leave a copy on Server" box. Now, hit OK to finish the changes. The old mail will no longer be saved on the server.

MAC Mail

With the program open, click Mail, then Preferences, now click Accounts, then the Advanced Tab. Make sure there is a checkmark in front of "Remove a copy from server after retrieving a message". Now close the screen to save the change.
