  • Windows Live Mail Setup

    1. Open Windows Live Mail.
    2. You will be prompted to create an email account, if not click the "Accounts" tab and click on the "Email @+ button":
      1. In the E-Mail Address field, enter your MetroCast email address (for example; or user@[state] if applicable)
      2. Type the Password to your MetroCast email account in the password field.
      3. Set Display Name to the name you want to appear in email sent from this account.
      4. Put a checkmark in "Manually Configure server settings" box and click Next
    3. Enter your Account Settings as described below:
      Incoming Server Information:
      1. Server type: POP
      2. "Server address": or pop.[state] if applicable
      3. Port: 110
      4. "Requires a secure connection (SSL)" should be unchecked
      5. "Authenticate using": Clear Text
      6. Login username is your full MetroCast email address (example; or user@[state] if applicable)
      Outgoing Server Information:
      1. "Server address": or smtp.[state] if applicable
      2. Port: 465
      3. "Requires a Secure Connection (SSL)" should be checked
      4. "Requires Authentication" should be checked
      5. Click "Next" when done
      6. You should now get a success message. Please continue by clicking on "Finish"
      7. Click "Close" out of the accounts screen
      8. You will now get a message that your e-mails are downloading

    *When your e-mails have been download you should now be able to send and receive emails

    If you are ARE able to receive e-mail but are NOT able send e-mail

    1. Click on the blue file button, click "options", "E-mail accounts"
    2. Click on your e-mail address and it will highlight in blue
    3. Click on "Properties" then click on the "Servers" tab
    4. Under "Outgoing Mail Server" make sure that "My server requires authentication" is checked
    5. Click on the "Settings" button and make sure that "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected
    6. Click "OK" then Click "Apply" if applicable, finally click on "OK"
    7. Click "Close" on the accounts screen and try to send mail again
